Weekly Meetings

Troop 28 meets most Monday evenings throughout the school year, from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the lower-level meeting room of St. Elisabeth’s Episcopal Church, (556 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe, Illinois). The meeting room entrance is on the south side of Hawthorn Avenue, between Vernon and Greenwood Avenues. Parent chaperones are needed to ensure “two-deep” leadership and additional parents are welcome to come observe at any time.

Once a month there is no all-troop meeting to make time for the youth-led Patrol Leader's Council to meet. The PLC consists of the troop's elected youth leadership (the Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, and Patrol Leaders) as well as other youth leaders to plan the troop's meetings and outings. There are no troop meetings on public holidays or during school breaks in the New Trier Township High School school district and feeder district which serve most of our scouts.

Most meetings include reviews of recent activities, time for younger scouts to learn skills and for older scouts to help teach, and various in-meeting activities. The meetings are run by the Senior Patrol Leader and other PLC members with at least two adults on-hand to ensure safety and to provide gentle assistance when needed.
