  • Providing military veterans bananas at the start of the annual Chicago Ruck March raising awareness of veteran suicide an PTSD
  • Helping New Trier Township Food Pantry relocate a room full of canned goods after the fire in township offices
  • Making sandwiches for Connections for the Homeless
  • Laying Christmas wreaths at a local cemetery as part of the annual Wreaths Across America program
  • Clearing buckthorn in the Cook County Forest Preserves by Skokie Lagoons in conjunction with Backyard Nature Center and Little House of Glencoe
  • Donating Hanukkah candles through The Ark Chicago

Troop 28 has celebrated the accomplishments of 6 new Eagle Scouts since 2018, with several more projects in planning stages.  Their leadership has allowed scouts and adult volunteers to:

Our annual Spaghetti Dinner is Troop 28’s contribution to the nationwide BSA Scouting for Food initiative.  While traditionally a popular community sit-down dinner, Troop 28 pivoted in 2021 to provide gourmet meal kits and set a troop record for funds raised.  The troop was able to donate over $5,000 in food and cash donations to:

  • New Trier Township Food Pantry
  • Family Service of Glencoe
  • Uptown Cafe
  • Niles Food Pantry
  • Connections for the Homeless
  • Am Shalom’s Fanchon Simons Help the Hungry
