Join Us

Boys in grades 5 and up are invited to join Troop 28 any time during the year. Keep an eye out for activities planned specifically with guests in mind.

Holiday Fundraiser

The Friends of Glencoe Scouting's annual winter fundraiser offers premium wreaths, Hanukkah candles, gift wrap or gift cards with free local delivery...or purchase items to donate to local families in need. This event benefits Family Service of Glencoe, The Ark, Wreaths Across America, and funds Troop 28 activities and scholarships.

Leadership

Troop 28 is a scout-led troop. This means that scouts run the meetings, choose the outings, and plan the activities.

Adventure

Outdoor and active adventures are a core part of scouting. In recent years, Troop 28 scouts have gone skiing, luging, snowshoing, mountain biking, ziplining, sailing, and whitewater rafting. Our scouts have slept on TWO submarines, braved a spring ice storm, and canoed the Boundary Waters.

Volunteer

Whether you like outdoor adventure, spending time with our scouts, or working behind the scenes, our adult volunteers keep the troop going.

Community

Troop 28 traces its heritage back to 1911 and is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops in the country. Scouts participate in the annual July 4th parade, raise money for the New Trier Food Pantry; lead Eagle projects, and help dozens of local nonprofits.

Camaraderie

Whether it's hiking through the woods, rappelling down a cliff, serving spaghetti to the community, participating in a scout First Aid Meet, making s'mores around a campfire, or staying up late to talk with a tent-mate, there are plenty of opportunities to make friends and have fun with Troop 28.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Families have been attending Troop 28's spring spaghetti dinner for generations. Proceeds support New Trier Food Pantry, Family Service of Glencoe, and Troop 28!
