Leadership

Troop-28 is a scout-led troop. That means the scouts run the weekly meetings, plan campouts and other adventures, and teach newer scouts key life skills. Through this, scouts learn important skills that serve them well on the path to Eagle and in life.

Adventure

Outdoor and active adventures are a core part of scouting. In just the last few years, Troop 28 scouts have gone skiing, luging, skating, mountain biking, ziplining, sailing, paddleboarding, and whitewater rafting. Our scouts have slept on TWO submarines, braved a spring ice storm, and visited BSA summer camps in Wisconsin and West Virginia. There's always something in the works for Troop 28!

Spaghetti Dinner

Troop 28's annual spaghetti dinner has been POSTPONED in light of the current worldwide coronavirus precautions. If you have already purchased tickets, please click through for details.

Camaraderie

Whether it's hiking through the woods, rappelling down a cliff, serving spaghetti to the community, participating in a scout First Aid Meet, making s'mores around a campfire, or staying up late to talk with a tent-mate, there are plenty of opportunities to make friends and have fun with Troop 28.

Community

Glencoe Troop 28 traces its heritage back to 1911 and is one of the oldest Boy Scout troops in the country. Troop members have been active in the community, participating in the annual July 4th parade and Veterans' Day ceremony; raising money for New Trier Township Food Pantry; and leading Eagle projects to benefit organizations including the Little House of Glencoe.

First Aid Merit Badge

First Aid Merit Badge

First Aid is a great merit badge for new scouts to start with, and a life skill that will serve scouts well into adulthood. Many local organizations offer First Aid Merit Badge workshops periodically throughout the year including Evanston Recreation, the APO sorority at Northwestern University, Rolling Meadows Park District, and others. Troop 28 also has an in-house Merit Badge Counselor who will work with you to earn your First Aid Merit Badge so you can always “Be Prepared!” when you are needed.
